Twinning The Queen Elizabeth Parks

A partnership between the Ugandan Wildlife Authority, Queen Elizabeth Country Park and the English Ranger Association will try and create links between the two Queen Elizabeth Parks.
The idea of ‘Twinning the Queen Elizabeth Parks’ came about when Charles Etoru from Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda and Steve Peach from Queen Elizabeth Country Park in England met when they both attended the International Ranger Federation Congress in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Finding that they were both presenting displays about Queen Elizabeth Parks, a friendship was made and the idea of ‘Twinning the Parks’ was born.
As always with ideas conceived on a diet of enthusiasm and alcohol it took a while for the idea to grow into a real project, but finally after a few years of talking about it a meeting took place and a plan has been drawn up.
There are several key strands to this project;
Setting up an information and staff exchange system to promote the continued professional development of staff and volunteers from both Parks.
Setting up a system to help provide resources in support of the QENP Rangers
Promote the work of both QE Parks
Encourage schools local to both QE Parks to become involved in cultural and educational exchange of information
To try and further the conservation of QENP by raising funds to support school and community projects
